ASTI President Ann Piggott today congratulated more than 60,000 young people who have received their results from the Leaving Certificate Calculated Grades Process.
“This year has been extremely challenging for our Leaving Certificate students. After six years of second-level education they have had to cope with much anxiety, uncertainty and disruption in their lives. I want to thank our Leaving Cert students for their patience and wish each and every one of them well in their future lives. Whatever your results today, you have options. Keep calm, talk to others and seek good advice to help you make wise choices.”
Ms Piggott also thanked the teachers who have shown outstanding commitment to their Leaving Cert students. “The overwhelming feedback from ASTI members throughout this pandemic has been one of dedication to their students. Teachers found the disruption to the Leaving Certificate to be a great cause of concern and displayed tremendous flexibility and perseverance in order to ensure their students could keep progressing with their lives.”
The ASTI will be liaising closely with its members throughout the day and will be gauging teachers’ and students’ reactions to the Process.
The ASTI represents 17,500 second-level teachers throughout Ireland.
