ASTI representatives were present today, the first day of talks on pay equality for post 2010 entrants. The talks involve the three teacher unions (ASTI, INTO, TUI), as well as other unions representing public sector workers, and officials from government departments, including the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.
At the talks, the teacher unions stated that teachers have been particularly affected by pay inequality. The teacher unions insisted that full pay equality must be restored for new entrants to teaching.
The talks are expected to continue for a number of weeks.
