The ASTI welcomes the clarity given to students as a result of yesterday’s announcement that Leaving Certificate results will issue on 7th September but is disappointed that there was no consultation or discussion about this decision.
While providing clarity, the delay in the issuing of Leaving Certificate results will continue the anxiety for this year’s Leaving Certificate students; in what has already been a particularly anxious year.
This latest development, along with all the issues that have arisen this year, shows that the Leaving Certificate examination system as it is normally operated is a robust and fair system, trusted by all. This year should serve as a warning to those who want to make major changes to a system that works and has served Irish students well.
