ASTI has received the outcome of our complaint to ICTU regarding the acceptance of ASTI members into TUI during our Industrial Disputes. An ICTU Disputes Committee decided that the acceptance of such members by TUI “did not adhere to the requirements of the Congress Constitution.” This decision was appealed by TUI but the appeal was unsuccessful.
In light of this, it is expected that TUI will write to the teachers concerned and advise them that they have been admitted into membership of the TUI in breach of the rules of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and that they can apply to re-join the ASTI.
