Commenting on the publication of Government proposals on the pay of post 2010 entrants to the public sector, the ASTI President Breda Lynch said: “It is bitterly disappointing that seven years after the introduction of discriminatory pay scales in teaching, this unacceptable discrimination continues for thousands of teachers”.

Outstanding issues relate to qualification allowances and the starting point on the teachers’ pay scale.

The ASTI Central Executive Council will meet soon to consider the proposals.
