The postponed election for the Regional Representative to serve on behalf of Region 2 - West Mayo, East Mayo, Carrick on Shannon was cancelled due to the outbreak of Covid-19 and the consequent closure of schools.
Standing Committee has agreed that the election of the Standing Committee Regional Representative for Region 2 should now be held by postal ballot. This is a revision of arrangements for an election that is already underway and the only candidates eligible for election are those duly nominated under election arrangements approved by Standing Committee in October 2019.
Ballots will be sent to electors at their last home address made known to ASTI later this month. It shall be the responsibility of the elector to provide an alternative address before commencement of the ballot, if different from their last home address made known to ASTI, for the purposes of this election.
The closing time and date for return of completed ballot papers is no later than 5.30 p.m. on Thursday 1st October 2020. Ballot material received after this time cannot and will not be included in the election count.
