ASTI and TUI statement on Senior Cycle Redevelopment
The ASTI and the TUI have expressed their disappointment at a letter from the Minister for Education and Youth, Helen McEntee TD, in which she stated that she does not believe the accelerated delivery timeframe for Senior Cycle Redevelopment announced in September 2023 should be revised.
The Minister has issued an invitation for intensive talks.
Both unions will now consider today’s development, consult and respond in due course.
Engagement with the Department of Education has been ongoing since last November following a protest by 30,000 second-level teachers outside their schools over their serious concerns around the ‘accelerated’ Senior Cycle Redevelopment programme.
