Non-Permanent / Part-Time Teachers' Campaign

The problem of casualization in the profession has not ended with the introduction of CID's after two years employment. A 2017 ASTI / RedC survey found that just 34% - one third - of the recently qualified teachers were in permanent, full-time posts. The attractiveness of teaching as a profession has been deeply corroded by the problem of casualization. Survey of teachers who have emigrated have underlines the difficulties of finding full-time work as the major 'push' factor to leave Ireland and seek work elsewhere as a teacher.
