For the purposes of Section 24(2) of the Education Act 1998 (as amended by the Education (Amendment) Act, 2012), the allocation of teaching posts for the 2021/22 school year is calculated in accordance with the rules outlined in this circular and is based on recognised pupil enrolment on approved courses on 30 September 2021.

The Programme 2022/2023 St Angela’s College, Sligo, (a College of the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG), is offering a Post- Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Special Educational Needs (Autism) Professional Development Programme in collaboration with the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) for teachers of students with Autism. In accordance with programmes being offered by the college, this programme will be accredited by NUIG, and will lead to an award of a Post-Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Special Educational Needs (Autism).

From September 2022, the DEIS programme will be extended to additional schools who were identified using the refined DEIS identification model as having the highest levels of educationals disadvatnaged. This circular sets out the appeals process for schools who, following the application of the refined DEIS identificaiton model to their student enrolment data, were not identified for inclusion in the programme or identified for reclassification to DEIS urban band 1 and wish to have that outcome reviewed.
